Water-lubricated journal bearing
Water-lubricated journal achieve lubrication through a hydrodynamic film formed by fluid pressure. Unlike conventional contact-type bearings, they are less prone to friction and wear, making them suitable for use in various high-speed rotating machinery. Additionally, since water is used as the operating fluid, these bearings are more environmentally friendly compared to oil-lubricated bearings. With a high specific heat capacity, they are also less sensitive to temperature increases.
At the MEDVIC Laboratory, the static and dynamic performance of water-lubricated journal bearings has been analyzed using analytical methods. To validate these findings through cross-verification, an experimental apparatus is currently being developed. Below, Fig. 1 shows a cross-sectional view of the experimental setup, with key components labeled.
Though this process, the static and dynamic performance variations of water-lubricated journal bearings under different factors can be quantitatively analzed. The experimental results can serve as preliminary data for subsequent research.
